Once final pages are approved and the PDF has been sent to the printer, the Forthcoming placeholder page on getty.edu will be replaced with the full book, but with an “Uncorrected Preview” banner in one corner. This is for use by Marketing in promoting the book and seeking review coverage, which typically happens 4–6 weeks before pub date. Any remaining work that’s being done to the online site at this point will also be communicated to Marketing, but typically it should only be bug fixes at this point, if anything.
On the day of publication, the “Uncorrected Preview” banner will be removed, the GitHub repository will be made public, and direct links to the book will be added to the book’s listing on various pages throughout getty.edu, including the shop.
When it’s time to deploy to the public, switch the production
branch in Netlify from forthcoming to
main, double-check that the site
baseURL is properly configured. Switch the repo
from private to public, leaving any images repo private.
